The 25th Anniversary Virginia Film Festival is launching its 2012 Call for Entries, inviting filmmakers around the world to submit feature films, documentaries, shorts, animation and experimental works. The 2012 VFF will run November 1-4, and the deadline for submission is Friday, August 3, with an extended deadline of Friday, August 31. Accepted films will be eligible for Audience Awards, Programmer’s Choice Awards and documentary works will have the chance to be shown on Snagfilms.com. Filmmakers will be notified of their acceptance status by September 28.
Before submitting, please read the guidelines below. Complete an entry form online or download and fill out the .pdf version to mail in with your screener and payment. All materials must be clearly labeled with the name of the film and the person submitting.

GUIDELINES
Submissions must contain: entry form, full payment, preview screener. Entry fees must be paid via check or money order made out to “UVA – Virginia Film Festival”. Submissions from outside the United States or Canada must provide entry fees in the form of an international money order in US dollars. Students must also include proof of student status at the time of production in the form of a photocopied student ID. Incomplete submissions will not be processed or considered.

Films must be submitted on EITHER a single DVD (NTSC Region 0 or 1 ONLY) OR as an online screener. For online screeners, provide the url in the ‘Preview format’ field on the entry form.
Films not in English must include English subtitles.
The cost of shipping an entry must be paid by the entrant. DVD screeners will not be returned.
If a film is accepted, press materials for the film will be required, which can include but may not be limited to: high-resolution publicity stills, filmmaker bio, or online trailer.
The Virginia Film Festival does NOT waive entry fees.
The Virginia Film Festival does NOT offer “notes” or specific critique of any films not accepted for exhibition, and reserves the right to turn down any submission without explanation or justification.
